Atari Manicure

Heyyy there :)

Just did this Atari mani yesterday, and I absolutely love it! It reminds me of old Galactica, or Tetris, and reminds me of my childhood.  I did cheat a little and get my nails done at my local nail salon with OPI Black Onyx, then added the dots myself when I got home. Excited to finally putting my bright colored nail polish to good use! Thing about bright nail polish is, you can put it on your toes no problem, but rocking an acid yellow on your nails for a week when you're not on vaca is a bit much. Solution: just add a touch of it to your weekly mani.

For this manicure, you need:
Black nail polish as base
(5) colors (or less if you want to repeat a color) for the dots
(1) dotting tool (purchased at any beauty store)
Top coat
Steady hand or a friend with a steady hand

NOTE: I ended up using all Sinful Colors, which I get at Walgreens for $1.99 or less. I used all creme polishes, meaning they didn't have a foil or glitter to them. Helps the dots stand out more. Also, the Sinful Colors line covers pretty well and didn't give me much trouble in being too sheer.

Instructions:
1) Give yourself a regular mani with a base color of your choice
2) Take the color you want going down the middle of your nail. I chose an Elecric Blue. I started by my cuticle, and just spaced them out just a little bit, going towards the front end of my nail.
3) Repeat on all nails.
4) Take the next color, line up the dots with your first column of dots, so they look purposeful and not like polka dots.
5) Repeat step (4) until you have all 5 columns done!

You can definitely do a modification of this mani by doing less columns. I took some pictures with two colors, three colors, and five colors. They would all be cute manicures! But, as I always go a little over the top, I had to do all five colors :{)

Hope you have fun with this mani! Send me your pic if you try it!

This NYC Magenta wasn't showing up on the black well, and was pretty watery, so I switched it out for Sinful Color 24/7. From L: 24/7, Innocent, Why Not, Rise and Shine, Snow Me White

Bowtie & Navy Dress

There is something about adding elements of menswear to an outfit that muck it up, and insert some power. I love pairing this simple navy shirt dress with a bow tie, and some heels to keep it feminine. It reminds me a little of a airline stewardess, and you know I love dressing up! And this clutch, I adore this clutch. It was a impulse purchase, but I'm glad I made it! Its a limited edition, leopard print embroidered on metallic leather. There is leopard everywhere you look these days, but this piece is great because of the creative technique used to achieve the leopard print. Embroidered! Genius!

Outfit: Dress and bowtie from Barney's, Aldo heels, Edition by Banana Republic leopard clutch,  JCrew leopard iphone case.

mohair coalition

Lish and I recently had a conversation over dinner about how much we love fur (faux fur for PETA's sake?). So although I absolutely love summer, I'm excited for a day chilly enough that I can wear my new angora beret.

This hat is soft and stylish, yet it won't break the bank. Buy your own online here at my new favorite hat store Hatagories.com.

I can't wait to get a faux version of this Foley + Corinna chain fur collar made to wear with my hat!
