Neon Platforms drenched in Graffiti

Recently I came across this hot little pair of neon platforms. I was like a moth to the light. The gravitational pull these shoes had was inescapable. Had to have them. They are not the most practical shoes I've ever owned, but they have a high "drool" factor. Usually, I justify buying things by saying I can wear it to work, but sometimes you have to let go of the rules ;)

And what better place to take my little neons for a walk, than their natural habitat of color explosive, creativity fighting for a bit of space to exist, grimy street graffiti alley. Surely this is the kind of place they were conceived, by a designer on their way to a swanky art show in the Mission. I love graffiti. There is something democratic & dirty about it. It is mysterious, beautiful, and vibrant. There are a lot of  interesting documentaries about graffiti now, here are a few of them: Exit Through the Gift Shop, which was nominated for Best Documentary in the 2010 Academy Awards, Bomb It,  and  Piece by Piece specifically about San Francisco's graffiti scene. I love walking around SF, taking the time to stop and spot the graffiti and just soak it in because it most likely won't be there for long.

Oh yes- the outfit. The shirt and skirt are both from Zara. BTW, Zara is opening their US online store on September 7th! (This is amazing for them, and bad for my bank account.)The shell clutch is vintage from the 80's. Sunglasses from Express. Bendie shoes by Jessica Simpson, AND there is another color way that is on sale! I love the neon yellow of the colorway on sale, but I just couldn't live with that pink platform :/ Also, wanted to note that these platforms are incredibly comfortable, despite their 5.25" heel, precisely because of the 1.5"platform. Your foot is only experiencing a 3.75" and not a 5.25" heel.  I highly recommend these shoes if you're looking for a "going out" pair: their affordable, striking, and most importantly, comfortable!!

Hope you all had a great long weekend:{)
