Punchy Mani for Summer Weddings

Hello! It's a weekend filled with weddings coming up and I wanted to do a fun mani to go with my outfits. I am still completely obsessed with Color Club Blue Ming so I had to incorporate it. I'm wearing a black dress with a Multi colored floral print, you can see it in the pictures.

If you are like me, then there aren't enough weeks in a year to wear all the colors you want! This mani punches color by utilizing 5 yummy hues that work together:

Thumb- Color Club Clambake Coral
Pointer- Jacob Sunny Capri
Middle- Color Club Blue Ming
Ring- Island Girl surfer Babe
Pinky- Sinful Colors Rise and Shine

Blue Ming mani!

Just got this little bottle of joy in my Birchbox! It's called Blue Ming from Color Club, and looks like Tiffany Blue- very robins egg but with a little pop. I think this is my favorite item ever received from BirchBox!

Birch Box & Flowers

Sorry for my last post this week! I was in Hawaii last weekend so I'm a little behind. Might post some photos from the trip soon :) Anwho, I signed up for Birch Box, a company that send you a boc of samples every month per your preferences! I wanted to share the second to latest treats:
  • Jouer Moisterizing Lipgloss
  • Showstoppers Designer Fashion Tape
  • Benefit The POREfessional
  • Givenchy Le Secret
  • Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer
  • EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster.
So far I have used the Nuxe, Jouer Lipgloss and Givenchy Le Secret fragrance- and I'm pretty happy with them! I leave the fragrance sample at my desk, and I have the eboost and Jouer in my purse incase I need a pick me up :)

Have you tried any of these products and do you like them?

And to leave you in a pretty place, photos of a gorgeous flower arrangement of purple Ranunculus with white Parrot Tulips by Danielle Bernhisel :)

A Niners Mani- GO SF 49er's!!!

Good morning this lovely Saturday:) The wind and rain kept me up for parts of the night, a nap will be in order today (I love naps). I did a SF Niner's manicure last night, and attempted painting letters on for the first time! It's not perfect, but hey, it's festive for tomorrows NFC Championship game! I wrote out "GO NINERS" on 8 of my nails, and drew little helmets on my thumbs.

Basic thought on this was I wanted to do a red base with gold letters, and black outlines for my little helmets. You will need just basic items, (I went a little overboard).

You Will Need:
Red polish (Sally Hansen Extreme Wear Red Carpet)
Gold polish OR gold polish nail art pen (Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure )
Black polish (Wet n Wild 424)
Tiny Brush  (MAC #25 brush)
Top Coat & Base Coat (CND Top Coat, Orly Bonder Base Coat)
Steady hand
Pen and paper to practice
*Red foil- I did foil, there's no need, I just went cray cray at 11pm last night. My mani would've looked lceaner had I just stuck with polish!
*Foil Glue

I wrote out on a piece of paper what I wanted it to look like, so I wouldn't make a silly error and notice after I was finished. I wanted the words to be easy to read for someone else, not for me looking at my nails myself, which means I had to write the letters upside down. Point is, map it out on paper before you write it on your nails!

Tomorrow's a big day! Niner's in NFC Championship game, plus its the beginning of Chinese New Year! It actually makes me a little nostalgic, growing up in the heyday of the 49'ers legacy and having such fond memories of getting together with my extended family, the electricity in the air, everyone getting so excited, getting to play with my cousins. I loved it. I hope tomorrow will continue the great family moments :)

Go Niners, and Happy Chinese New Year!

Winter in SF Part II

Happy MLK Day everyone! Hope you take a moment to remember what this day means to you, as I'm sure it means different things to different people. You probably have a day off today, so a moment to reflect isn't asking so much.

Since the forecast for this week is on the cooler, rainier side, I thought I'd share my favorite wintery outfit of 2011-12. It's my "snow bunny in the city" or "urban Eskimo" look, if I had to call it something :)

Outfit: rabbit knit hat from Japan, sweater dress from Victoria's Secret, metallic leather jacket form Barney's, tights from H&M, purse is LV, and boots from Aldo.

Candy Stripe Mani

Hi y'all! Hope you had a relaxing weekend, and were able to take advantage of the beautiful, beautiful weather. I had to pull over yesterday during dusk to snap a few shots of the amazing colors of the sky. I am so lucky to live in SF and those are the moments that remind me.

So Mich told me about the Sally Hansen 2011 Holiday line last fall, and I was on the hunt every time I was near a Walgreens. I finally found them in NYC and purchased the Candy Stripe and Black/Red Plaid patterns. I decided on the more festive and holiday specific Candy Stripe for the month of December :) And since I have now figure out how to use just one of the vacuum sealed packets included instead of using both packets, I was able to squeeze two consecutive manicures for the holiday month. I loved the random stripe widths of the pattern, but the exact pattern made it easy to spot flaws in my application. I will do a tutorial next time I do a  Sally Hansen mani :)

Lesson learned, for 2012, I am buying up all Holiday Sally Hansen manis I can find! They would make great holiday party gifts for my girlfriends, as long as I do it early enough in December to give them a chance to wear them for the festivities.

Winter in San Francisco Part I

Hi all! I apologize for being away for so long! There is no excuse really, just been busy! One of my resolutions for 2012 is to blog at least once a week, and once I figure out what the rest of my resolutions are, I will share that with you :) You'll keep me in check!

I wore this outfit to my company holiday party, we were whisked away in a luxury bus to the acclaimed restaurant Prospect in SOMA( so so delicious), followed by a few laps around the ice skating rink at Embarcadero & Market St. You know, ice skating is not nearly as bad as I remember it being...I suppose not being on an awkward date, and having some drinks in me helped tremendously...

I wanted to get in the holiday spirit, and had some fun putting together this outfit. I loved the festive, warm and fuzzy look, and how its just a touch sophisticated with the pony boots and gloves. The structured shoulders in the jacket with the cinched waist made me look thinner, and that jacket over skinny jeans and boots made my legs look longer too. Score and score! Mixing old and new items makes for an interesting outfit, and I really enjoy thinking about the memories made when I found each treasure.

Navy jacket from Bio in NYC, vintage newsboys cap from NYC, vintage cream gloves & emerald clip on earrings from Alameda Antique Fair, jeans from Uniqlo in NYC, and Chie Mihara pony hair boots from a sample sale in NYC, Louis Vuitton Epi Leather purse from Paris. And so long to my little brass bow ring that I lost while taking these photos :(
